Dr. Rachel Jones-Wild – Mental Health Awareness Week – Mindfulness
Mindfullness is essentially a kind of way of being I suppose. It’s about becoming more aware of what’s happening in the present moment rather than doing what we usually do which is spending all of our time worrying about the past, worrying about the future, thinking about an argument that we had or something that may or may not happen tomorrow. It’s about focusing on what’s happening right now and it helps us to appreciate things, helps us to manage our stress, our difficulties and one of the ways that we can practice mindfulness is through meditation and we don’t need a huge amount of time to do that. It could literally just be a minute, three minutes, to just sit and notice your breathing, notice your body and hopefully start to feel a little bit more positive.
