Mental Health Awareness Week
Today begins Mental Health Awareness Week run by the Mental Health Foundation. Their chosen theme for this year is surviving or thriving, and that’s really an important question. Everyone has mental health, for all of us our mental health is just as important as our physical health, so we want to create a Scotland where everyone can get the right help at the right time, expect recovery and fully enjoy their rights free from discrimination. These are key themes in our new 10 year mental health strategy for Scotland. The issues raised by Mental Health Awareness Week are really powerful, the role communities have in ensuring good mental well-being and the steps we can all take to improve our personal resilience and cope with the demands of life. So take a minute to ask yourself are you surviving or thriving, and help spread the word to highlight the importance of good mental health for everyone and rid ourselves of needless stigma.
