Millard Headache Specialist shares 1 key stretch for neck pain & headache relief

Today I’m going to show you an extremely
valuable stretch to do for anyone who either suffers from headaches; or just
tightness in their neck and shoulders; or especially if you wake up with hands
numb and tingly. I’m Dr. Rodney white with Sarpy Chiropractic, and this one
stretch is going to change your world if you suffer from any of those symptoms. And of course if you’re still suffering after doing this stretch and you haven’t
tried a good Chiropractor before or you’re just not happy with other results
you’ve gotten, go to www.sarpychiro.com Check out our website to see what we’re all about, see if we’re someone that you think you would like to try and let us assess you
and see if we can even help you. So this one stretch, why is it so important? There’s some muscles that run down the back of the neck and the shoulder that
work extremely hard when our head is sticking forward. So if I turn to the
side like this you’ll notice most of us have some degree of this posture where
we’re doing that because we look at phones all day; we’re on computers all
day; so these poor muscles are working each and every minute of the day trying
to pull you back and they get extremely tight; extremely knotted; and they can set
off headaches, jaw pain, pain in the neck and shoulders, and it can be where a
nerve gets pinched running down to the arm and you wake up with numbness in the hands and fingers. So Dr. Sullivan’s going to come and show you the stretch. I’ll talk you through it. So come on in doc. So this can be done many times throughout the day because you can do it while you’re sitting at your desk. So whichever
side you’re stretching, we’re going to stretch the left side here, you can
either sit on that hand or you can grab the bottom of your chair like he’s doing,
now either one doesn’t matter. What we’re trying to do is create some tension here
as an anchor point because then with his other hand he’s going to reach up and
grab the side of his head. There’s multiple directions we need to stretch
because there’s multiple muscles here involved. So he’s going straight across
and he’s going to feel the stretch right through here. For any of these stretches
don’t get to burning, just get to discomfort. Then the beautiful part with
this, to stretch another muscle he can just turn the head down like that and
he’s going to feel it more at the back now. But all of these muscles we’re
stretching, are very key, they get very tight in almost every human that we see
as a Chiropractor. The 3rd direction is stay to the side and look more up like
that – now we’re getting more the front part of these muscles. The names aren’t
as important but we’re stretching the trapezius and levator muscle; the scalene
muscle; and the SCM. All of those are probably like a rock in you if you sit a
lot of the day. So you can let that go there doc. So how many times and how long? We recommend 20 to 30 seconds at a time; do a series of 3 or 4 of it, but
the big key is repetition throughout the day. This isn’t a check the box and do it
once. You probably give the same recommendations as me right? Multiple
times a day 20 to 30 seconds! Like he said, consistency! So try this one, see how you go, give us some feedback on this video if you try it and whether it does
work or not. And if you are still suffering from headaches, jaw pain, neck
pain, any of the things up here in this area, give us a call or go to our website
www.sarpychiro.com we would be more than happy to meet you, assess you, see if we
can help and the best part of all we don’t charge you a cent until you decide
“yes this is the right place for me.” You don’t pay anything to come and meet us
and see what we’re all about. So that’s all we have for today, hopefully you
found this one extremely valuable and we’ll see you next time!
