Sex, Gender and Bullshit Part 4: Mental Health and Sex on the First Date | We The Internet TV

[LOU] You wrote about how mental health affects who you date. Can you tell us a little bit about that research? [DR. SOH] There is, unfortunately, still quite a bit of stigma around dating people who have mental health conditions. The study that I wrote about found that, with regards to short-term dating, men placed less importance on someone’s mental health condition, whereas, with long-term dating, people with mental health conditions were discriminated against. [LOU] Is that because men think crazy women are great in bed, and crazy men kill people? [DR. SOH] It could be. (intro music) [LOU] Are there some mental health disorders that might actually make you a better partner for somebody? [DR. SOH] That’s an interesting question. [LOU] Thank you. [DR. SOH] Mental health disorders tend to be defined by distress and impairment, and difficulties in day-to-day functioning. So it can affect work and school, it can also affect your romantic relationships in a negative way. But I would say that, for someone who maybe undergoes counseling, they might gain coping skills, they might gain some additional insight or self-awareness that would be beneficial for their romantic relationships. So in that way, I think there could be some positive outcome there. (music) [LOU] Here’s a question: a lot of our viewers might be going on a date this week. Maybe it’s a first date. They might be thinking about sleeping with the person. So, do men and women react to sex on the first date in a different way? [DR. SOH] Men, historically, have preferred casual sex to women. And there are evolutionary explanations kind of backing up why that is. I feel, nowadays, there’s kind of this pressure for us to say that women enjoy casual sex as much as men, even though that’s not necessarily the case, or that’s not what research shows. [LOU] Do you think part of it, like, the enjoyment of casual sex, comes down to, perhaps, men finding it easier to orgasm than women? Or is it just the women I’ve met? [DR. SOH] …Uh…. (music) [LOU] You wrote an article titled, “Who Regrets Drunk Sex More, Men or Women?” Doesn’t it depend on who paid for the drinks? ‘Cause there were times that I’ve looked at my bill and I’m like, “Man, I shouldn’t have bought all that Patrón. I could have just stayed with Jose Cuervo and it would have been a good night. Wasn’t worth it.” [DR. SOH] So the researchers, they were interested in seeing whether men or women were more likely to intervene with a male or female friend to stop their friend from going home with a stranger after they’d been drinking. [LOU] Oh, cockblocks? [DR. SOH] Yeah.
[LOU] Oh, okay. [DR. SOH] So what they found was that, across the board, if someone was female, people were more likely to intervene and to say, “Maybe this is not such a good idea.” [LOU] ‘Cause they don’t want her to get murdered. [DR. SOH] Potentially.
[LOU] Potentially. [DR. SOH] So it suggests that maybe men are actually the ones to regret drunk sex more. [LOU] So why would men regret drunk sex more? [DR. SOH] Well, I guess if someone is inebriated, they’re not thinking straight, or thinking as clearly as they would be if they were sober, they might be more inclined to go home with someone that they wouldn’t otherwise. So if men don’t have that same social support that women have, that their friends will intervene and say, “That might not be such a good idea.” The researchers didn’t comment on this, but it’s potential that there would be more regret for men. [LOU] Be a good friend. Be a cockblock. [LOU] Thanks for watching. Be sure to subscribe to our channel, We The Internet TV, and follow us on Twitter and Facebook for new videos every week. The Dr is great, but everything else is awful. The interviewer is not even slightly funny. stupid repetitive music and title screen between each question, video series broken up in to 3 minutes segments for what reason? . Sort it out guys.

Okay, what about girls who honestly have more sexual partners than men? That fact doesn’t suggest that women actually have more casual sex than men? Don’t make that false stigma

Women having social support is the "protect the eggs" reflex we have evolved. This is the origin of feminism. Protect the women. Leave the men to their own devices.

I am transsexual. I am the proof that men and women have different zones in the brain that are responsible for sexual identification! Transsexualism is an prenatal disruption of sexual dimorphism of the brain. Due to a prenatal hormonal disorder, the brain of the embryo can develop into a sex different than a sex of the body. But, feminism hides it! They impose on people that there is only gender. That is all just a choice! Feminism mixed transsexuals with gender mud! This is a huge feminist biopolitical war against all mankind! Feminists have mixed transsexuals with people who have serious psychiatric problems!!! They call all this transgender people. So feminism hides the fact that men and women are different! As a result, women do not receive proper neurological treatment (for females brain), and transsexuals continue do suicides!

Transsexualism is a neurological disease! But look what happens!?

    Help us please!!!!

Dr Soh is kind of a rock star.

I can tell you from experience having sex with a partner who has a mental disorder (such as borderline personality disorder) may or may not be "great sex" but the aftermath is almost certainly going to be a living hell. The thing is folks (especially men) are all too hot for sex and are willing and often do have sex with partners who are all but complete strangers. You don't know going in (see what I did there?) if the person you're paired up with is mentally "normal" or an effing psychopath. There's a LOT more at risk than potential unwanted pregnancy or contracting venereal disease than you think. Google the name "Alex Forrest" – believe me, that character type is a LOT more common than you realize.

Men don’t stop their drunk friends from sleeping with someone they normally wouldn’t, because we want to give them shit about it later.

  • Creepy Ghost Chick

I suffer from various mental heath problems. I don't date. I can't expect a guy to fuck up his life for my crazy ass. Not ideal but I cope. Life without romance isn't really all that bad if you find something else to be passionate about. As long as I got art and videogames I'm happy…but sjws are ruining them so…

  • ArcaneSniper

"Be a good friend, be a cock block" 😂

  • Adam Haggan

Well I’m done. This channel is everything wrong with the internet. Dr.S. “Something intelligible”
    WTI- derrrr flails arm retardedly
Dr.S- tries to respond with sense and reason.
    Another scene cut.

You are literally stalling brain development, as evidenced by your excuse for a host.

"Or is it just the women I've met?" – Ha. Brilliant
