The Problems Migraine Headaches Cause - Migraine Specialist Dr. Kevin Smith
Other patients describe to me a lot of relationship issues um not being able to connect with their children, not being able to uh have a relationship with their spouse. You can imagine if your a spouse, initially you might think ok there’s a migraine going on but after a while even they begin to doubt whether or not someone can actually have a headache that severe all the time. And so there’s a disconnect at that point. And then of course that leads to depression on the patient that has the problem and then it also leads to discord in the family and then a lot of times they get divorced over this. In the worst case is when I hear these poor people come in and say that they have suicide thoughts. People also describe not being able to go to important events, they’re afraid to go on vacations because they don’t know when a headache is going to flair up and then they become the focus of the vacation and impacting everybody else’s fun or have to be left on the bus or in the hotel room or… it’s just numerous occasions that people just miss out on. And these are patients who have suffered for twenty and thirty years of dealing with this. The ones that are fortunate are the ones that come in after just one or two years that I see. Because I know that they save themselves twenty or thirty years of this agony. Contact the Smith Center today to schedule your appointment.
