What is a heart attack?
So many people have confusion around the
difference between cardiac arrest and a heart attack, so let me start by
explaining what’s a heart attack. Well a heart attack is when one of the arteries
supplying blood to the heart gets blocked. The sudden blockage causes pain
often in the chest, sometimes in the arm or the jaw and the person suffering a
heart attack feels very unwell. The pain can be anything from a bad indigestion
feeling to a feeling that they’re about to die. Now a heart attack is a medical
emergency. A person with a heart attack needs to get
to hospital to try and unblock this blockage and save the heart muscle but
they’re usually able to talk and breathe normally and be fully conscious.
